Sinhala(also knon as Sinhalese and Helabasa) language is the major language in Sri Lanka. Here at this group, our goal is to translate Drupal CMS to Sinhala language and let Sri Lankan Drupal web developers create web sites in Sinhala language.

In order to this make Sinhala translation working properly, the visitor's device may have the following.

• Unicode-compatible browser (minimum IE version is 6, and minimum Firefox version is 2)
• Sinhala Unicode
• Required fonts - Wijesekara layout (Unicode already ships with few fonts.)

There are 2 types of fonts per keyboard layout. But the Wijesekara layout is the officially supported layout as per Government documents. When you are using a font type, make sure that the keyboard layout is Wijesekara.

The Sinhala translation initially started on 11. Feb. 2011. We welcome your membership and contributions to this project.

Currently, we are planning to release the Sinhala Translation of Drupal core 6 and 7. Please join the group and contribute!
